So, let’s say you were lucky enough to create something you actually like.

It might be a cake or a drawing, or a business or a blog or a particularly tart-tongued child. These are rosti potatoes, extremely high on the likable scale. Still, they are just sitting there. Sitting there.

Just sitting there and they won’t budge, won’t be fully done, until I help them out of that spot.

So out they go…

…up, over…

…and back again. Watching potatoes fly, you see them neither on the counter nor in the pan. You catch a startling glimpse of difference; a spatula could do the job, but why deny yourself the flip? To reach its crunchy potential, that Rosti must see the other side of the mountain. And because I do too, things here at Simmer will be taking a short break.

There’s an extra-secret project in the works, and I do believe that a clear head – along with espresso, honey and butter – will help me get the job done. A little voice said “step away from the blog” – and when you hear an order, well, you can be stubborn or you can listen up. I feel deeply about this project, the way Josie feels about puppies and Jayhawks and lip gloss, so I’m listening up. Step away it is.

But not forever, mind you, just a few weeks. Think of it as a commercial break, a quick off-season in which you catch the re-runs. Or not. With the sincere hope that you’ll stick around, and won’t trash the place while I’m gone – I am making pencil marks on those bottles, young lady - please use this handy little poll to explore your options.
