I know it’s too late to vote, but I would’ve nodded to the spaghetti carbonara! Maybe that’s because I’m nine months pregnant and ONLY want carbs, or maybe it’s because your story reminded me so much of my own late nights with my sister. She’s seven years older, and she would drive us to 7/11 to get big gulps of forbidden soda after our parents were asleep. We would stay up all night making snacks – there were several months straight where it was a cream cheese-based hot shrimp dip, and another stretch where we invented BBQ potato chip sandwiches on lightly toasted rye bread with mayo and iceberg lettuce. These late-night secret sister snacks are some of our fondest memories. She and I threaten to try those BBQ potato chip sandwiches, but never have. Maybe I’ll make spaghetti carbonara, instead, as a tribute to secret sister snacks, and more important, sisters.

I was forced to be a Girl Scout for 3 very long years and the one and only thing that saved me was S’Mores so I say “You Go, Girl!” I, among others, am behind you all the way. And I so want to learn to make homemade marshmallows so may I hang around and watch?

I can’t wait to read about this one. In a little bit of serendipity, it’s snowing right now, which makes it perfect s’more weather. That doesn’t happen often in Oklahoma! I’ve always wondered how to make marshmellows from scratch, and now I finally get to learn the secret. Thank you for doing this, Marilyn!

Now, if you lovely people will excuse me, I’m going to scamper outside to gather snow for Snow Ice Cream and catch snowflakes. There’s something so giddy and pure and little-kid-joyful about throwing your head back, sticking out your tongue, and letting snowflakes lace your eyelashes. I DARE you not to giggle while doing this!

The people have spoken. And, in their infinite wisdom have probably saved me from myself because while I am dead certain I’ll enjoy the story, due to certain childhood S’mores “issues”, I am equally certain I will not be attempting to duplicate this particular recipe. Flame on!
