Birthday Girl
May 24th, 2009 by Marilyn
We’ve been totally focused on Bat Mitzvah weekend, hurtling toward next Saturday like a glittery, homemade asteroid. But Josie, in general, has been more interested in this Sunday – today, her 13th birthday, the day I “officially” become the mother of a teenager. Her auspicious response: “You have to remove the tweenager category on the blog! Woo hoo, tweenager no more!”
And there it is. One day you’re reading Frog and Toad, the next day they’re out for sushi, sporting better accessories than yours. This is the circle of life.

Happy, Happy Birthday to my one and only, tootsie-roll-and-cranberry-eating, one of a kind girl. We love you more than blogs can say.

That makes it a birthday week… Hope it’s all fun-filled. Happy Birthday Josie!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JOSIE!
THIRTEEN! WAHOO! YOU GO GIRL! Counting down to a driver’s license now……and no more kids menu meals for kids 12 and under.
Not too old for a mmmmmmudslide, are you? See you soon!
Josie- Love that ring. Have a wonderful birthday week.
UGH! I am way too old to be jealous of a thirteen-year-old’s wardrobe, and yet, here I am, wishing I could pull off white sunglasses.
I clearly remember the thrill of finally being able to say I was thirTEEN. But I don’t remember being nearly as cute as that Josie. Congratulations to you for thirteen years of mothering, and sending you tons of good luck for next week!
Happy THIRTEENTH birthday, teenage Josie, rockin’ those accessories!
Happy Birthday, Josie! I hope your mom made you your favorite cake.
Happy Birthday to your lovely daughter!!
So many patterns and she’s making them all work! I’m tres jealous.
Happy Birthday, Josie!
Marilyn, please don’t write any more posts about Josie getting older. I’m a Big Cry Daddy, and anything that makes me think about my daughter getting older brings tears to my eyes.
Have a fantastic week.
Mike
Happy 13th Josie…mom…she’s growing up into a fine young woman!!
Happy Birthday, Josie! I bet people mistake the two of you for sisters though
Thanks to everyone from Josie (and her Mom) for the birthday wishes. Now completely glitter-covered and fully engaged in B-Mitz countdown to Saturday; I’m afraid it’s a sign-off until after the big event, approximately the same time we reclaim our lives again. Thanks for all the good wishes, luck and love!
thinking of you at this special time and singing this, pretend I sound like Nanci Griffith:
(Malvina Reynolds, Harry Belafonte & Allen Greene)
Where are you goin’ my little one, little one?
Where are you goin’ my baby my own?
Turn around and you’re two
Turn around and you’re four
Turn around and you’re a young girl
Going out of the door
Gasp! Out of nowhere she looks so grown up! How? When? Who? Where? WHY!!!
That is so sweet! and Frog and Toad were my favorite books growing up (i’m 25 now)! I used to read them over and over this one summer. Amazing.
