Looking for Edies? They’re Good Eggs
Apr 19th, 2009 by Marilyn
Remember these hard-boiled dames?

The Edible Edies were created last year for a Grey Gardens contest over at the fabulous Renovation Therapy blog. Though they gave it their crazy all, they lost – to a baby. Already suitably bats, they hung around the fridge for a few weeks, singing show tunes, applying lipstick, decomposing…

…until their hard shells finally gave out, and nature took its course. Being totally edible, they made a classy addition to the compost.
And yet…they’re back. Yesterday, over 378 people landed here searching for Edies, in various forms: Edie Beales, Big Edie and Little Edie, Edie Beale’s Hair, edith bouvier beale crazy house. Clearly, the HBO Grey Gardens movie spurred a new wave of Edie interest. So welcome, Edie Lovers! Hope you enjoy your stay at Simmer, but honestly, I can’t imagine your reaction when you went looking for fascinating women, and found…a pair of eggs.

I think that is HYSTERICAL that Edie Mania struck Simmer Till Done! And OMG those eggs still make me laugh my rear off. They got my vote.
I love those eggs. They won in my book!
Hilarious
So fitting, somehow, the slow deterioration of the Edies in the fridge. I’m just settling in to watch the HBO movie now.
LOL…. I love these fashionable eggs!!
oh my gosh – so cute!
“Hard-boiled dames”? Oh, Marilyn, you are too funny. I hope someday you present another classic film in food form.
I’m new to Grey Gardens. This winter I watched a show on PBS that explored translating the documentary to a Broadway musical. Interesting stuff. I still haven’t watched the documentary, but I’m going to fit it into my schedule this summer.
I dream of isolating myself from society. I’d spend my days cooking, baking, blogging, and welding sculpture out of scrap metal. Though I’m sure there’s a provision in the Hermit Code that prohibits blogging. At least a fella can dream.
Whole wheat minks are my absolute finito-ideal favorite new things. I might make it into an expression, as in, “Whole wheat minks!”
I had to giggle at the previous whole wheat minks comment…
Isn’t it interesting to discover what search topics lead people to where on a blog—old posts, new posts, obscure posts. Of course, I’m sure many of those 378 searchers were secretly delighted to find these classy dames, err, I mean eggs. Too cute (and too funny)!
How funny about the tv inspired visitors. You got a lot of personality into those eggs, their demise is as sad as the end of Mitty.
So hilarious!! I cannot believe you didn’t win.
I give you a gold star.
These are the most awesome eggs I have seen. You are so creative and funny to think of them. How they didn’t win is beyond me!
