I Got All My Bloggers With Me
Feb 17th, 2009 by Marilyn
Oh, to be two well-known bloggers – sisters, no less – at a Valentine’s Day party.

Your drinks are poured, your chocolates ready. The host tries to spirit you away for a private tour, but it’s no use. Guests shyly approach in a thrill of recognition. Roses are thrown at your feet…

…and the kitchen is your oyster. When everybody loves you, you can shake it how you want. In fact, you can shake it in any room you want.

Because you are a player.

Well-known bloggers take what they please.

And if one of them sits on your lowered baking counter, because she is Amazonian compared to your wee self, and to her the lowered baking counter is merely a chair, well…

…then it’s a chair.
These girls lead the glamorous life, I tell you – days of bon-bons, cocktails, and devastatingly tall men. Before you know it they’re gone, whisked to the night, and you’re left sweeping crumbs and dimming lights. All you can do is hope – just hope – that you showed them a good time.

Thank you, blogging sister-starlets! Mi casa es su pastry buffet.
*the Simmer legal dept. would like to note that in truth, Rechelle & April exhibited no diva-like behavior, and both they and their entourage were perfectly charming at all times. They were delightful guests, and by all accounts appeared to enjoy their cupcakes and vodka punch.
Loved having you, ladies. Come back soon!

Looks like you gals had fun.
Marilyn, no doubt you’ve had a beautiful Valentine meeting with marvelous desserts.
I want a lot of them from my screen
Cheers!
Gera
I’m so jealous
I want some more of that raspberry frosting.
Butt, butt, butt….I thought that was a little bench!
Thanks again for having us it was a fun evening and we enjoyed the other folks there too.
Oh, and thank you for the house tour, you all did a fabulous job!!!
That looks like a splendid feast – everything was so beautiful! Did you make everything or was it a potluck? What a fun valentines do!
Marilyn,
Clay just came over here and read the comments and told me I spelled but wrong. I told him I did that on purpose because my BUTT was on your wee-little counter/bench area! I swear, that man.
I am so jealous…all my favorite Kansasians in one place AND chocolate?
admit it…you guys talked about ME all night.
Sandy (foodhoe) – I wish I could say the house-elves made everything, but no, it’s all me. I’m good and crazy that way.
April – I know a properly spelled butt when I see one! You can sit on my counter any time. Um…after some baking. Not before.
Marilyn, I have a burning question that I think you can answer.
When I make meringues and try to put things in or on them (like you did there with the chocolate) mine just melt.
I tried to make heart shaped baskets one year and they were so pretty and then I spread the jam in them (ala a Martha recipe) and they just kinda melted.
Am I a moron or can I fix my meringue problem?
THanks,
Cynthia
Are all the fun people in Kansas???
Why didn’t the sistah’s take off their coats?
Your house and your treats look beautiful!!!
I noticed the sister’s coats, too. I expect they just couldn’t wait to dive into all the goodies.
I sometimes read your blog at school. Lately, the school’s internet filter has been blocking all photographs on your blog, so I’ve only been able to view the photograph tags. When I read the tag “April on Baking Counter,” I rushed home expecting to view some bawdy party pix on my unfiltered internet connection. You can imagine my disappointment. I need to get my mind out of the gutter.
The party, however, looked great. It looked like you had plently of tasty treats and great conversation.
Take care,
muddy
Hey, I know those bloggers! Well, not in real life, you know. But I know their blogs!
That’s some party! How fun to have all that talent and incredible food in one place. I can’t believe you made all that (oh wait, yes I CAN believe it). I’d be happy with the leftovers.
Love your kitchen/dining room.
