I have to say I am jealous - I love the pictures. In my south Georgia town the "farmer's market" consist of 3 vendors all selling: tomatoes; cantelope; watermelon; okra and onions. That is it - and you pass at least three corner produce stands to get there - all selling tomatoes; cantelope; watermelon; okra and onions. Really sad. Maybe that could be a vacation idea . . . :)

Susan:
I do feel fortunate to live in walking distance!

Heidi:
I totally agree. Fall is my favorite season and I think the farmer's market is at its most gorgeous filled with squash, cornstalks, and pumpkins.

Natalie:
How could I forget all your beautiful farmer's market wares? They all sound delicious.

Jean:
Yep, come to ours - it's like a freaking laughing dog parade. The cutest dogs ever, and everywhere.

Carol:
We're lucky to always have live music at ours, too - but those fresh donuts sound awfully good.

PVS (Pam):
I've heard that about Madison, too. We need Wisconsin blogger Miz Booshay to get in here and talk about it. Paging Miz Booshay?

Karen:
Rhubarb for pie, yes - and I never make angel food cake, either. Someone has to!

Strawberries, rhubarb, and asparagus, because I don't have those in my garden yet.

And Mr. Yoder's angel-food cake, because I'm too lazy to make angel-food cakes myself.

Every Saturday a different non-profit group raises money by selling freshly-made donuts--plain, cinnamon or powered-sugar. Sometimes the line to buy them stretches around the block. Also every week, the Oak Park Farmer's Market Bluegrass Band plays its folksy music. We love it.

The laughing dog rocks.

We have flies at our local farmers market. Yes, really. I kinda hate going there...so I think I'll come to yours instead.

I'm always jealous of those who live close to a farmers' market. I don't have one close by this east Texas town I live in. :-(
