Sweet Lorraine
May 20th, 2008 by Marilyn
Today is – I swear on my new oven mitts – National Quiche Lorraine Day. I don’t know who proclaimed the holiday, exactly, but I thank them. Because just between us, not a day goes by when I don’t think “I celebrate thee, quiche. Many thanks.” Do we not a think a pie full of butter deserves its own day? We do.
I don’t care that’s it getting a bit warm outside.

When quiche calls, you answer. Crank up the air, flour your hands and keep the butter cold.

So what if this blog has been Quiche’d with Lorraine-love before? Slice that cheese! Dice that bacon! Pay no attention to the calorie-counter behind behind the curtain.

It’s a holiday, so get in there and make some. Try my favorite Quiche Lorraine recipe of all time, the one that has graced many a brunch table – and dinner plate, and, um, small snack plate – here. Happy Quiche Day!

Goes to show you how much I love the quiche recipe you shared–I was actually planning on making it today, without even knowing it was National Quiche Lorraine Day. Serendipty.
I’m going to order quiche for lunch now…thanks!
mmmmm…i love quiche right out of the oven, but i love day-old quiche eaten right out of the refrigerator better!!
We make quiche at our bakery all the time! One of my favorites is Corn and red pepper quiche. We only make it in Lancaster County in the summer, with fresh off the cob corn. We use: Fresh Silver Queen Corn, Roasted red bell peppers, Super Sharp Vermont Cheddar cheese, Heavy Cream, eggs and Cottage cheese. While I am not allowed to hand you the specific amounts, you can probably guess the best for your own. This is my favorite quiche. I can’t wait for July.
mmm…butter….cheese…..bacon……good………
That previous quiche post is what first led me to your blog!
I remember, Joanne! Everyone go check out her lovely quiche:
