My son's Doberman does that, too, and with our high ceilings it sounds just unearthly. When I played this vid, my little Pomeranian got up and hid under the cedar chest. Hee hee.

Cleo's howl woke Puppy from his morning nap and he came over to see what was going on.

Puppy howls at the train whistle.

Cleo is so pretty.

Ha!
I have been very tempted to record Sequoia, who bays like an ole hound dawg (I expected something more wolfy from a GSD-ish looking dog like her) when the tornado sirens go off.
Ideally, I'd capture a duet, though usually by the time Sequoia gets warmed up, Baxter the dachshund has degenerated from coyote-howl into just plain yapping.
Sequoia was sleeping behind me when I played this one, and she got up and left. Baxter, right under the desk, ignored it. (But if I play meowing cats, he will camp out by the (gated) basement stairs all day, because he's convinced the tabby cat - who died of extreme old age TWO YEARS AGO - is still hiding down there.)
