Even after 17 years my husband will still say, "Let's have hotdogs for dinner. You know, HOT DOGS. And let's stand under the EL track while we eat them."

I wish we could. I always make like I am walking to the car and turn and tell him dinner will be ready in 8 1/2 hours or 500 mile, whichever comes first. Oh, and bring money for the tolls!

Yes, I know American buns are too sweet for European tastes, but a Chicago dog has a nice spicy bite and they go well together. That said, I will eat any sausage from any stand in Europe. On any bun. The ones in Austria are particularly yummy. Imbiss, I think.

Joanne - you tryin' to torture me or what?

MMMmmmmmMM. That looks delicious. I know what I'm having for dinner tomorrow. (Or maybe we'll just head out to Lou Malnati's instead. Hee hee.)

Seriously, several of the better-known hot dog places 'round here do ship out the goods--pricey, though.

At least you only have to go to Chicago, I have to travel to Belgium for a "pistolet" or a "sandwich" (soft roll) so I can get decent bread to put my buffalo frank on. I love the hot dogs but American buns are too sweet.
