40 Years and 115 Pieces

Today is my fortieth birthday. Think – what’s the best birthday present a girl a house-building girl can get?
Cabinets, that’s what.
One hundred and fifteen pieces of cabinets, hardware and trim, to be exact. A nice haze of sawdust and the screech of drilling drills – it all makes me very, very happy.
Whoever said good things come in small packages…
…never spent their birthday finishing a house! I mean, cake is nice – sweaters are lovely, and checks made out to you are delightful. But…really. A home for pots and pans? Silently gliding pull-outs for my sheet pans? A permanent place for all the glassware, the Pyrex, the cookie cutters and olive jars?
Forget earrings. Cabinetry is truly the gift that keeps on giving.
