Got Lintel?
Oct 3rd, 2007 by Marilyn
At 1632, I’m buried in a mountain of cardboard boxes. I am under an avalanche of newspaper, a pyramid of packing peanuts – need I go on? At this point I’m ready to turn the “tape gun” on myself. Just wrap me up and let the movers take me away!
But – over at the new old house, something wonderful happened. Here are the days leading up to it.

The much-anticipated lintel arrives to huzzahs and fanfare…then sits in Dan’s truck.

It moves to the lawn for a few days – you know, to get used to the house. Greg wonders…

…will it ever grace our front door? Will it fit?

8:02 pm, Friday night. We drive by to see it on the lawn, and feel like stalkers.

Tuesday, 10:35 am. Greg figures if it’s going to sit on our lawn, it might as well make itself useful. Perhaps it should be the new coffee table?
Another day, another drive-by. Ho-hum. But wait….is it…it is!
Wednesday afternoon, and what do I see? It’s…it’s a…
It’s a LINTEL, up on top of my door! And it will not be falling on anyone – I checked. Rain or shine, now it’s there forever. You can see fossils in it, and it fits, and it just looks wonderful. Worth the wait, no?
