There’s a Place for Us…

So, we have a few books.

And get this…they decided to move across town.

Luckily, we’re a few steps ahead of them. Watching all the cabinets and shelves being built at the new old house has been one of the happiest things for me.

Dan, Bill and the talented crew have heard an awful lot about the how, why and where of so many slats, shelves and cubbies. We’re very good at generating custom ideas – not so much with hammering nails.
Packing up (28 book boxes and counting) has left us with many anticipated, but kind of sad and empty holes:

It’s a big job, finding a place to put all the books. But we figured out the other night that we will solve in one fell swoop what it took us 12 years to accomplish here – a place for them. And I mean all of them.
Even still in progress, I thank goodness for the new bookcases. They give me hope that the move will go well. They cry out – “give me your pristine, your tired, your coverless.” I know they’ll all have a home, from my sauce-stained cookbooks to Greg’s sticky note-filled tomes. From the out-of-date Frommer’s to a full shelf of – are you listening, Country Doctor’s Wife? – Josie’s faithful Nancy Drew.
Seeing a new home for the books can only mean one thing – it must be our new home, too!
